Mission
To address minority youth mental health with assessment, education, and practical coping skills; while providing safe spaces and opportunities for youths to communicate and express themselves. We aim to encourage and promote self-acceptance, self-awareness, self-love, mindfulness, and accountability through positive examples, education, and task-specific exercises.
Leadership
C.O.P.E. uses licensed mental health professionals, who are qualified and trained to instruct and address mental wellbeing. Our leaders are those of integrity who confidently navigate social and professional settings with respect, poise, and dignity.
Education
At the end of the 12 weeks, participants will understand the importance of valuing themselves. They should be familiar with tools that will help them assess their own mental state and behavior, and recognize how it affects themselves and others. Participants should also have learned techniques to C.O.P.E. with fluctuating emotions. Choosing Options for Positive Effects.
Expectations
C.O.P.E. leaders aim to take control and confront issues head-on. We will advocate and promote safe spaces, helping participants to recognize self-worth and the value of others in the effort to decrease youth suicide rates and bullying.
Program participants will be expected to participate and cooperate fully in a respectful manner for all activities. Participants will be asked to keep an open mind and give feedback throughout the program.
